Sam Chia is currently the Chief Executive officer of SC Coaching Asia Pte Ltd. He has over 30 years’ experience as an international business leader, executive coach, consultant and facilitator.

Sam was the Vice President and Managing Director of the subsidiaries of global listed company. He had profit and loss responsibility for the specialty chemicals business of those organizations across China, Southeast Asia and India. He was also a member of board of directors of their Japan and China subsidiaries.

Sam began his career as a Chartered Certified Accountant. He obtained his Master of Business Administration from University of Bath, United Kingdom and transited from his accounting career to general management. Sam had resided in China, Singapore and Malaysia and had previously built and led successful diversified teams across Asia.

Sam embarked on his consulting and coaching career after taking up the role of Managing Director of a regional human resource practices specializing in leadership and organization assessment and development. In his work, Sam applies insights using assessment technology, positive psychology, action learning, coaching and blended learning to help leaders expand their personal performance and organizational capabilities.

Sam focused on helping businesses to transform through building a strong and cohesive leadership team. This includes helping organization to select and identify leaders and team members to right fit the role using a structure assessment process. He has also supported leader through team assessment and facilitation to better align their team through greater awareness of one another so that they can leverage their strengths to support one another.

Sam is particular skilled at using psychometric assessment and 360 feedback tools to provide constructive and honest feedback to leaders to help them achieve greater clarity on their leadership styles and performances. The feedback conducted in a professional manner helped leader to develop, transform and improve their leadership practices.

Sam has special interest in developing leadership capability through coaching. He has coached senior leaders and executive teams from both private and non-profit organization. In fact, he started practicing coaching to have better working relationship and leading his management team when he was still a business leader. He now helps others to be a better and effective leader as a professional coach.

With his passion in coaching, Sam has co-edited a book in 2010, “Coaching in Asia: The First Decade” together with a team of coaches from International Coaching Federation to create coaching awareness and to share coaching experience in Asia. He has also contributed articles on leadership and coaching to The Straits Times and Human Resources Magazine and interviewed on the subject of life coaching by
